Modak - 2 Ways, 5 Minutes, No Cook and No Mould

Ingredients:

  • Ingredients for malai Modak
    • 1 Cup crumbled Paneer (150 grams)
    • 1/2 cup milk powder
    • 1/4 cup + 2 tbsp powdered sugar
    • 1 tbsp cashew powder
    • 1 tbsp almond powder
    • 1/4 tsp cardamom powder
    • Few saffron strands soaked in 1 tbsp milk
  • Ingredients for sugarless dates-dry fruits Modak
    • 3/4 cup chopped dates
    • 1 tbsp cashew powder
    • 1 tbsp almond powder
    • 1 tbsp walnut powder
    • 1/2 tbsp pistachio powder
    • 1/4 tsp cardamom powder

Method:

  • Method for malai Modak
    • Take a wide bowl and add the paneer, milk powder, dry fruits powder, cardmom powder, saffron milk and sugar.
    • Mix the ingredients well using a spatula or hands. The mixture will form into a dough.
    • Grease a plate and your hands with ghee.
    • Pinch a ball from the dough and shape it like a modak (refer video)
    • Using a knife make marks on the modak to make it look like the traditionally shaped ones using mold. (refer video)
    • Garnish with silver vark.
  • Method for sugarless dates-dry fruits Modak
    • Pulse the chopped dates in a mixer grinder to form a paste.
    • Take a large bowl and add the dates paste, dryfruits and cardmom powder.Mix well using a spatula or your hands to form a dough.
    • Grease a plate and your hands with ghee.
    • Pinch a ball from the dough and shape it like a modak (refer video)
    • Using a knife make marks on the modak to make it look like the traditionally shaped ones using mold. (refer video)
    • Garnish with silver vark.
