Description: Homemade fresh garlic powder is a great way to have garlic on hands and can be added to give a distinct garlic flavor to your dishes. Be it Mariana sauce for pasta/pizza, salad dressings, curry dishes, garlic bread and much more. When you are running out of fresh garlic in your pantry or do not have the time to chop some, this garlic powder is of great help.
Ingredients:
- 150 grams raw Garlic
Method:
- Peel and chop the garlic in fine pieces.
- Spread them on a microwave safe tray with parchment/butter paper placed on it.
- Make sure to not overlap the pieces
- Microwave on high(I did at 800W) for 3 minutes first.
- Take the tray out and mix all pieces to ensure they are dry from all sides.
- Now place in the microwave again for a minute.
- Check and repeat after every 30 to 45 seconds till the garlic pieces are dry and crispy. It should crumble easily in your hand.
- Watch closely as garlic easily gets burned.
- It took me total 9 minutes in my microwave at 800W.
- Let the garlic pieces cool down.
- Once cooled grind the dried garlic and store in a dry glass jar.
Note:
- The time taken for the garlic to become crisp depends on the size of the pieces and the power settings of the microwave.
