Author: Bhumika Joshi
Ingredients:
- 1 liter + 6 tbsp Milk at room temperature
- 5 tbsp Custard Powder(vanilla flavored) (50 grams)
- 1/2 cup Sugar(100 grams)
- 6 Bread slices
- Mixed dry fruits (chopped)
- 2 tbsp butter
- Pan size 10×6 inches
- 2 tbsp butter(optional)
Method:
- Take a bowl and add 6 tbsp room temperature milk to it.
- Add the custard powder and mix well to avoid lumps.
- Keep it aside.
- Now take a pan and add 1 liter milk and heat it on low medium flame.
- Stir occasionally to avoid burns.
- Add the sugar and mix.
- Once the milk has heated, add the custard milk mixture and stir continuously till the milk thickens.
- Let it cool down stirring occasionally so the custard does not form thick film over it as it cools.
- Meanwhile, take the bread pieces and cut them in small squares.
- Preheat the oven at 180C.
- Take a 10*6 inch oven proof container and arrange the bread pieces flat in it.
- Pour the custard over the first layer.
- Sprinkle chopped mixed dry fruits. (I have used pistachios, cashews and Almonds)
- Arrange another layer of bread pieces and repeat the process of pouring the custard and the dry fruits.
- Put small pieces of butter on the pudding.(optional)
- Bake in preheated Oven at 180C for 20-25 minutes.
Notes:
- The baking time may vary depending upon the container size.
- You can choose any Nuts or dry fruits of your choice or even skip them completely.
- Additionally, vanilla essence can be added for more flavor (I haven't used any.)
- Sugar can be adjusted as per taste.
- Make sure you stir continuously after adding the custard mix to hot milk otherwise it may form lumps.
- I have used white bread but it can be replaced by brown/whole wheat or any bread of your choice.
